TeleVisits & VideoVisits
Remote patient visits via audio or video for clinical trials, with real-time data capture and automatic recording for audit compliance.
Overview
TeleVisits & VideoVisits is a remote visit module within the Jeeva eClinical Cloud platform, designed for use in decentralized and hybrid clinical trials. It enables patients to participate in study visits via audio or video calls from any browser-based device, reducing the need to travel to investigator sites or research centers. The solution is suited to a range of trial types, including long-term follow-up studies and post-treatment monitoring, and supports both scheduled and unscheduled visits.
The platform is disease-agnostic and device-agnostic, supporting a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) approach. It operates through the Jeeva eClinical Cloud and is accessible from smartphones, tablets, and computers without requiring patients to download or install an application, though a native mobile app option is also available.
Key Advantages
- Reduces travel burden for patients, which supports engagement, adherence, and retention, particularly in long-term or post-treatment follow-up studies.
- Allows investigator staff to access patient data and conduct remote assessments from distant regions or countries.
- Supports both scheduled and unscheduled visits with automatic call recording for remote monitoring, assessments, and audit trail purposes.
- Enables participants to complete trial activities from home, allowing researchers to reach a broader participant pool.
- Reduces operational costs by eliminating travel expenses for patients and investigator sites.
- Allows healthcare providers to assess and monitor patients remotely and provide real-time responses to questions and medical concerns.
Core Features
- Two-way audio and video communication for study visits.
- Real-time live interactive communication between patients and clinical staff.
- Remote patient monitoring, assessments, and follow-ups.
- Scheduling support for both planned and unplanned visits.
- Automatic session recording, managed based on protocol requirements, participant consent, and applicable local laws, with audit trails maintained for compliance.
- Facilitation of scheduling, billing, and other administrative tasks.
- Adaptive bitrate technology and audio-first fallback to maintain communication quality in low-bandwidth environments.
- Built-in rescheduling tools to address connectivity disruptions.
- Integration of televisit links and appointment details with the study visit scheduler, with participant reminders sent via SMS, email, and in-app notifications.
Integration with Other Clinical Trial Modules
- Combines with the ePRO module to support video-recorded patient-reported outcomes (vPRO) and video-recorded clinical outcomes assessments (vCOA) conducted live during visits.
- Clinical staff can administer questionnaires to participants (vPRO) and perform clinical assessments (vCOA) in real time.
- Survey visibility is configurable: vPRO surveys can be viewable by the participant, assigned staff, or both; vCOA responses and recordings are accessible to research staff only.
- Investigators and study staff can document SOAP notes, perform assessments, and record study tasks in real time during virtual visits, linked directly to the scheduled televisit within the platform.
- Implementing vPRO and vCOA protocols through the platform helps study teams reduce participant burden, maintain timelines, and conduct visits at participants' locations.
Security and Compliance
- Televisit and videovisit sessions are end-to-end encrypted.
- The platform is compliant with HIPAA, ICH-GCP, and relevant regulatory standards.
- Each session includes integrated consent capture and comprehensive audit trails.
- Session recording permissions are strictly managed in accordance with protocol requirements, participant consent, and local laws.
TeleVisits & VideoVisits is part of the broader Jeeva eClinical Cloud, which is modular and designed to support decentralized or hybrid trial operations across disease areas. The platform is positioned to integrate with other Jeeva modules, including ePRO and visit management tools, within a unified clinical trial management environment.
