Med Info
AI-driven insight extraction from medical information queries to identify trends, signals, and strategic intelligence across stakeholders.
Overview
Med Info is an AI platform designed to extract strategic insights from Medical Information (MI) data. It is built for pharmaceutical and medical device organisations that want to move beyond standard MI performance metrics and surface actionable intelligence from the full range of MI queries and interactions — including those from healthcare professionals (HCPs), patients, pharmacists, nurses, caregivers, and practice managers. The platform is developed by VML, a WPP company.
The platform positions Med Info as a source of unprompted, unsolicited data from people who are actively using or considering a therapy. Unlike traditional MI management systems, it does not offer chatbots or automated inquiry management. Its sole focus is analytics, depth of analysis, and insight-led reporting drawn from Medical Information Request (MIR) data.
Core Capabilities
- An "Identify Insights" wizard that extracts key MI insights from query data without requiring manual review of individual MIRs or dashboards.
- Real-time tracking of MI data with automated alerts to early signals and potential trends.
- Automatic grouping of MIRs into clusters to surface emerging topics not easily visible through manual review.
- Detection of queries that fall outside existing categorisation or classification taxonomies.
- Identification of faint or low-volume signals that may indicate emerging issues before they become prominent.
- Trend monitoring that tracks increases in both volume and proportion relative to historical baselines.
- Generation of custom, AI-driven, insight-led reports tailored to specific internal functions such as Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Safety teams.
Signal Detection
- Captures insights from grassroots stakeholders, not only Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
- Identifies MIRs that do not fit existing taxonomies, flagging potentially novel topics.
- Surfaces data that is present but too faint for straightforward human identification.
- Automatically clusters MIRs to reveal emerging groupings across the dataset.
- Monitors proportional trends over time, not just raw volume increases.
How It Differs from Standard MI Dashboards
- Analytics: Standard MI dashboards report on how requests vary by HCP type, patient, or caregiver, but typically cannot identify connections, clusters, and similarities across different submitter types. The platform reads every request and searches for meaning and matches across the full dataset.
- Depth: Goes beyond surface-level metrics to identify patterns related to originating institutions or HCP types, enabling earlier identification of issues that may require attention.
- Metrics: Provides a different type of reporting based on an MI-specific AI engine that reads each request as it arrives, finding patterns and meaning rather than reporting only on activity, response times, and key topics.
Triangulation with Other Data Sources
- Triangulates Med Info signals with Field Medical insights, Safety/Pharmacovigilance (PV) cases, publications, and CRM notes to build a fuller picture and prioritise action.
- Identifies trends across countries and regions without requiring integration of multiple MI platforms or systems.
- Links MI insights to congress activity and literature requests to identify unmet needs in emerging topics.
- Uses MI insights as a starting point for validating strategy by cross-referencing signals from other channels.
Internal Functions Supported
- Supports Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Safety teams by configuring insight searches relevant to each function.
- Enables proactive communication of MI insights rather than reactive dissemination.
- Facilitates sharing of insights with labelling, medical communications, publications, and clinical teams.
- Applicable across the product lifecycle, from early-stage R&D through to full commercialisation.
- Supports external engagement initiatives such as Patient Support Programs, scientific conference activity, and scientific training for internal teams.
Med Info is offered by VML, which describes itself as a full-service healthcare communications network and WPP company with approximately 30,000 employees and 10,000 technologists operating across 30 countries. The platform is positioned as a complement to existing MI management systems rather than a replacement, focusing exclusively on analytics and insight extraction from existing MI data.
