CAP Competency Assessment Hub

The CAP Competency Assessment Hub is a laboratory competency management tool developed by MediaLab by Vastian in partnership with the College of American Pathologists (CAP). It is designed for laboratory organizations that need to create, deliver, and track CLIA-compliant competency assessments for their personnel. The platform covers 11 laboratory disciplines, provides access to over 5,500 questions, 130 instrument-specific checklists, and 67 P.A.C.E.-approved continuing education courses.

The tool is built to help laboratories meet specific regulatory and accreditation requirements, including CAP standards GEN.55500 and GEN.55505, CLIA regulation 42 CFR 493.1235, and The Joint Commission standard HR.01.06.01.

• Courses can be assigned as corrective action activities following failed assessments

Instrument Observation Checklists

• Includes 130 instrument-specific observation checklists covering common laboratory instruments
• Checklists are based on documentation provided by instrument manufacturers
• Each checklist can be customized to reflect a laboratory's specific testing procedures and methodologies
• Supports documentation of staff competency assessments and training activities

• Document Control: Administrators can connect policies from Document Control to CAP Hub training activities, enabling policy readings to be assigned as part of a training workflow
