Overview

The Lumos MEA Plate merges high-quality microelectrode array (MEA) performance with advanced optical capabilities. Available in 24-, 48-, and 96-well configurations, these plates are designed to enhance light delivery to cell cultures while minimizing cross-talk between wells, thanks to their custom-built lids and specially formulated plate walls. The transparent well bottoms facilitate cell visualization and the ability to conduct multiplex assays with fluorescence, luminescence, and other reporter-based methods.

  • High throughput optical control: These plates offer a multiwell format for efficient data acquisition.
  • Optimal light delivery: Customized materials and lids ensure even light distribution across wells.
  • Assay multiplexing: Compatible with Axion's Lumos™ system for integrated optogenetic experiments.

These plates not only support robust MEA data collection but also offer the flexibility associated with CytoView MEA plates. The use of optogenetics is particularly notable, enabling precise control over cell activity. Genetically modified cells that express light-sensitive ion channels can be used to regulate cardiomyocyte beating or neuron bursting. The transparent bottoms also facilitate assays to correlate cellular health and connectivity with MEA data.

Lumos MEA Plates allow for enhanced experimental capabilities, including controlling cardiomyocyte beat rates and neural activity through optical stimulation, recording evoked skeletal myotube activity and light-evoked electrical activity from retinal tissues, and tracking neural dynamics in label-free formats. This makes them highly beneficial for increasing the physiological relevance of assays and understanding complex cellular dynamics.
