TriNetX LIVE
Real-world data cohort building and analysis across 280M+ patients in 20+ countries for clinical trial design and optimization.
Overview
TriNetX LIVE™ is a web-based real-world data (RWD) and evidence platform designed for clinical researchers, trial designers, and life sciences professionals who need to build, analyze, and act on patient cohorts at global scale. With a no-code interface that requires neither programming skills nor medical terminology expertise, users can define and explore cohorts drawn from hundreds of healthcare organizations across more than 20 countries — often in just minutes. When a cohort is ready for study recruitment, TriNetX LIVE™ enables direct connection with the contributing healthcare organizations through a few clicks.
The platform aggregates recent and longitudinal observations on more than 300 million de-identified patients, harmonizing electronic health records (EHR), laboratory results, tumor registry information, and more into a common data model. TriNetX LIVE™ is described as the world's largest federated network of real-world data, supporting on-demand cohort creation, advanced outcome analysis, and clinical trial feasibility and site selection.
Global RWD Networks
- Global Network: Spans 21 countries across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, with data from 235+ healthcare organizations and 280M+ patients. EHR data is enriched with lab values and genomic reports, with most organizations refreshing data monthly. Supports Advanced Analytics and TriNetX Connect.
- USA Network: Covers 175M+ patients across all nine US census divisions, sourced from 80+ academic medical centers and community hospitals, including both pediatric and adult populations. Supports Advanced Analytics and TriNetX Connect.
- EMEA Network: Provides access to 65M+ patients from 70+ healthcare organizations across 10+ countries including Belgium, Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Georgia, Germany, Ghana, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Spain, UAE, and the UK. Data includes encounter, diagnosis, medication, and procedure codes mapped to common terminologies such as ICD-10-CM and LOINC. Supports Advanced Analytics and TriNetX Connect.
- Latin America Network: Represents 22M+ patients from 30+ healthcare organizations, covering the majority of healthcare seekers in Brazil, with Argentina, Chile, Colombia, and Mexico coming soon. Supports Advanced Analytics, TriNetX Connect, and Data Set Download.
- Japan Claims Network: Provides on-demand DPC (Diagnosis Procedure Combination) data — the basis for Japan's national medical service reimbursement system for acute inpatient care — covering 42M patients across more than 460 acute care hospitals, including over 200 cancer care centers. Supports Advanced Analytics.
- Asia-Pacific (APAC) Network: Covers 19M+ patients from 30+ healthcare organizations across Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan. Supports Advanced Analytics and TriNetX Connect.
Platform Features
- Query Builder: Enables users to define highly precise and complex cohorts by specifying diagnoses, procedures, lab values, medications, and more. Criteria can be arranged in temporally ordered and logical combinations using drag-and-drop connectors, with no coding required. Simple cohorts can be built in under a minute.
- Explore Cohort: Instantly surfaces detailed insights about a defined patient population, including the prevalence of prescribed medications, mean lab values, and other clinical characteristics.
- Advanced Analytics: Provides statistically robust tools to analyze and compare patient outcomes, reveal treatment pathways, and generate tables and graphs suitable for presentation outside the platform.
- TriNetX Connect: Allows users to invite the healthcare organizations contributing data to participate in a study. If a cohort includes patients from a given institution, that institution can re-identify those patients for recruitment purposes.
- Diversity Lens: A feature designed to support more inclusive clinical trial design. By examining the impact of each inclusion or exclusion criterion across demographic profiles, Diversity Lens helps study designers identify criteria that may disproportionately disqualify certain patient groups, enabling more diverse and generalizable enrollment from the outset.
Clinical Trial Design and Optimization Workflow
- Select the appropriate RWD network based on geography, care specialty, or research mission.
- Use Query Builder to define a cohort based on diagnoses, procedures, lab values, medications, and temporal relationships — without writing code.
- Explore the cohort to understand patient characteristics, treatment patterns, and clinical observations.
- Apply Advanced Analytics to compare outcomes, model treatment pathways, and generate presentation-ready outputs.
- Use Diversity Lens to review how inclusion criteria affect demographic representation and adjust accordingly.
- Use TriNetX Connect to engage contributing healthcare organizations for site selection and patient recruitment.
TriNetX LIVE™ operates as a federated network, meaning data remains with contributing healthcare organizations while being harmonized into a common data model for on-demand analysis. The platform has been used by organizations such as Sanofi UK in partnership with Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust to optimize protocol feasibility and site recruitment for clinical trials. A PDF overview of the platform is available for download, and demos can be requested directly through the TriNetX website.
