QP-Liver
Automated MRI analysis quantifying liver fat and iron for steatosis and iron overload diagnosis.
Overview
QP-Liver® is an automated AI-based post-processing tool designed for MRI-based diagnosis of diffuse liver diseases. It performs fully automatic analysis of abdominal MRI examinations containing a multi-echo chemical shift (MECSE) sequence, generating parametric maps and quantitative measurements of liver fat and iron content. The tool is CE and UKCA marked and is intended for use by healthcare professionals involved in liver disease evaluation and management.
Chronic liver disease, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and conditions involving abnormal liver iron deposits, represents a significant global health burden. QP-Liver® addresses the limitations of histopathological examination — such as invasiveness, sampling errors, and patient discomfort — by providing non-invasive quantification of fat and iron through established MRI biomarkers, with results that correlate highly with liver biopsy findings.
Core Capabilities
- Automated whole-abdomen and liver segmentation from MECSE MRI sequences, eliminating the need for manual segmentation.
- Quantification of Proton Density Fat Fraction (PDFF) as a measure of liver fat concentration, supporting steatosis evaluation.
- Quantification of R2* as a measure of liver iron concentration, supporting iron overload evaluation.
- Simultaneous fat and iron quantification with control for confounding variables, showing high correlation to liver biopsy results.
- Generation of voxelwise parametric maps of fat and iron distribution across liver tissue.
- Correlation of quantification results with digital pathology data for comprehensive analysis.
Reporting and Workflow Features
- Produces a structured quantitative report that compares liver fat and iron values against normative data.
- Report output is designed to support inclusion of quantitative information in radiology reports to assist clinical decision-making.
- Integrates with clinical workflow and PACS systems.
- Supports the clinical workflow for liver MRI examinations.
- Reduces manual labor through automated segmentation and measurement processes.
Clinical Context
- Targets early-stage detection and precise longitudinal monitoring of liver fat and iron accumulation.
- Applicable to patients with NAFLD, metabolic disorders, and other diffuse liver diseases associated with steatosis or iron overload.
- Provides non-invasive diagnostic information as an alternative or complement to liver biopsy.
QP-Liver® holds CE and UKCA certification and integrates with existing PACS infrastructure. Its methodology is supported by peer-reviewed publications covering automated liver segmentation, PDFF and R2* quantification accuracy, and correlation with histopathological findings in chronic liver disease.
