Overview

HALO Macrodissection Solutions is a suite of AI-powered tools from Indica Labs designed to standardize tumor content quantification, eliminate manual estimation, and streamline region of interest (ROI) selection for downstream molecular analysis. By rapidly identifying samples that fall below molecular testing thresholds, the platform ensures optimal tumor concentration, reducing time and cost while improving precision, consistency, and confidence in results. HALO Macrodissection Solutions are intended for Research Use Only and are not intended for clinical diagnostic use.

The suite currently includes four tissue-specific algorithms — Lung Macrodissect AI, CRC Macrodissect AI, Breast Macrodissect AI, and Prostate Macrodissect AI (coming soon) — each tailored to the unique histological characteristics of their respective cancer types. All algorithms operate on H&E whole slide images and are fully deployed within HALO AP®, Indica Labs' AI-powered anatomic pathology platform.

Lung Macrodissect AI

  • Inputs: H&E whole slide images from primary and metastatic NSCLC resections, excisions, and/or core needle biopsies

CRC Macrodissect AI

  • Inputs: H&E whole slide images from primary and metastatic colorectal cancer resections, excisions, and/or core needle biopsies

  • Cell phenotyping
  • Density heatmap generation

Breast Macrodissect AI

  • Inputs: H&E whole slide images from primary invasive breast carcinoma resections, excisions, and/or core needle biopsies
  • Tissue detection and artifact exclusion
  • Non-invasive epithelia detection
  • Identification of regions of necrosis, RBCs, and necrotic nuclei
  • Cell phenotyping
  • Density heatmap generation
  • Percent tumor content and percent necrotic cells for whole slide image and dissection ROIs
  • Analytical validation demonstrated tumor cell precision of 0.93 and an F1 score of 0.92
