Biologics Explorer
LC-MS characterization and visualization for protein biotherapeutics, including intact protein analysis, peptide mapping, and post-translational modification determination.
Overview
Biologics Explorer is a software tool from SCIEX designed for the characterization of protein biotherapeutics and oligonucleotides using LC-MS workflows. It is accessible through the SCIEX OS software dashboard and is intended for scientists working on biopharmaceutical characterization who need to process complex mass spectrometry data and reach decisions on critical quality attributes.
The software uses interactive, visual data exploration to help users identify patterns and features in raw data. It is built on the Genedata Expressionist® platform and includes a workflow-based, nodal processing structure that allows users to view and optimize each step of data processing, from sample input through to final results.
Supported Workflows
- Intact protein and subunit analysis
- Middle-down mAb fragment analysis
- Peptide mapping
- Disulfide bond and post-translational modifications (PTM) determination
- Multi-attribute methodology (MAM)
- Intabio ZT system workflows
- Intact oligonucleotide analysis
- Oligonucleotide sequencing
- Oligonucleotide mapping
Visualization and Data Interpretation
- Next-generation biologics produce large volumes of digital data due to increasing complexity, including more potential post-translational modifications and protein forms.
- The software provides intuitive visualizations that allow users to identify patterns and features directly in raw data, reducing the risk of missing important findings.
- The visual approach is intended to accelerate the path from sample acquisition to actionable insight.
Support for Electron Activated Dissociation (EAD)
- The software is optimized to work with data generated by electron activated dissociation (EAD) on the ZenoTOF 7600 system, which produces rich MS/MS spectra for peptide mapping and PTM analysis.
- The data processing engine is designed to extract maximum information from both CID and EAD spectra, translating complex spectral data into detailed characterization results.
Workflow Transparency
- The nodal workflow structure makes each processing step visible and adjustable, allowing users to understand how results are derived rather than receiving outputs without process clarity.
- Each node in the workflow can be individually optimized to improve data output at every stage of analysis.
Underlying Platform
- Biologics Explorer software is built upon Genedata Expressionist®, a platform with established capabilities in biopharmaceutical mass spectrometry data processing.
Biologics Explorer software is compatible with all SCIEX high-resolution mass spectrometers, with featured integrations including the ZenoTOF systems, the X500B QTOF system (designed for biologics characterization), and the Intabio ZT system (for intact-protein level charge variant analysis).
