Single SOMAmer Reagents
An antibody alternative for ELISA and pull-down assays offering stability and reduced nonspecific binding.
Overview
Single SOMAmer Reagents are a next-generation alternative to traditional antibodies for affinity-based assays, suitable for singleplex ELISA and pull-down workflows. These reagents are derived from the high-performance components of the SomaScan Platform, providing improved stability, smaller size, and less nonspecific binding.
The extraordinary features of these reagents make them ideal when antibodies are insufficient. They account for nearly half the genetically encoded human proteome and can complement existing antibody methodologies in research.
Single SOMAmer Reagents come ready-to-use, optimizing protocols for sandwich ELISA and pull-down experiments. Materials supplied in the kit can support 1,000 ELISA reactions and 200 mass spectrometry pull-downs.
- Photocleavable biotin-linked cyanine 3 (PBDC) enables easy capture, release, and quantification without additional steps.
- A universal polyanionic competitor (PAC) prevents rebinding of nonspecific interactions after linkage cleavage.
The chemically synthesized SSRs are about ten times smaller than antibodies, offering better access to complex protein targets and enhancing stability over time.
Incorporating these reagents into research can extend insights gathered from the SomaScan Assay, facilitating large-scale studies and biomarker discovery with high precision.
Publications Utilizing SSRs
Noteworthy studies highlight the application of SSRs across various domains, such as cytokine detection, PET imaging, and forensic applications.
