Overview

The Neurophotometrics FP3002 system is a state-of-the-art fiber photometry platform that allows for the recording of bulk signals from calcium and neurotransmitter indicators using two-color imaging. This system is capable of managing recordings from multiple animals and brain regions simultaneously, offering a significant advancement in the field.

Designed as the next generation of the acclaimed FP3001, the FP3002 includes enhanced features and optimizations to improve user accessibility and processing capabilities. Notably, it now integrates lasers for optogenetic stimulation, broadening its experimental utility.

Key Benefits:

  • Real-time processing and flexible control through a newly designed computer interface.
  • Three excitation wavelengths enabling dual-color imaging and motion control.
  • Integrated optogenetic stimulation capacity.
  • Ability to record from up to eight regions of interest in freely-moving animals without requiring additional equipment.
  • High accuracy thanks to ultra-stable scientific LEDs and a patent-pending fiber optic feedback mechanism.
  • Enhanced sensitivity through an upgraded sCMOS camera and knife’s edge image splitter.
  • Micro-second precision synchronization across multiple devices.
  • The system is delivered ready to use with a plug-and-play setup.

The FP3002 combines three excitation wavelengths with a highly sensitive sCMOS camera sensor, which supports dual-color activity imaging in various experimental settings. This is further enhanced by integrated lasers that enable optogenetic stimulation alongside recording from the same fiber.

The FP3002 system is engineered for seamless integration with other laboratory hardware, facilitated by user-friendly software. This allows synchronization of fiber photometry recordings with data streams from behavior hardware, cameras, and custom devices.

Additional features include:

  • Acquisition rates from 16-200 Hz and an absolute sensitivity measure of 4.51 photons needed to equal noise.
  • Simultaneous recordings enabled by 8 branching patch cords (200 µm) or 4 branching patch cords (400 µm).
  • Three excitation LEDs at specific wavelengths for different applications such as GCaMP and RCaMP.
  • Emission channels configured for optimal green and red light measurements.
  • Sub-millisecond synchronization with external equipment, ensuring precise data collection alignment.

The FP3002 is a comprehensive solution for advanced fiber photometry research, combining sophisticated hardware and software to support cutting-edge scientific investigations.
