Overview

VIST® Case-It is a patient-specific simulation solution developed by Mentice, designed to enable the creation of individualized training cases from real patient anatomies. Powered by clinically proven segmentation solutions, Case-It allows clinicians to convert existing patient imaging data into fully functional simulation cases with minimal effort. The solution is intended for interventional neuroradiologists, interventional radiologists, interventional cardiologists, and residents and fellows in interventional cardiology.

Case-It represents a paradigm shift in simulation for image-guided interventional therapies. By interfacing with a user's existing segmentation workstation, it eliminates the learning curve associated with adopting new tools and combines state-of-the-art segmentation with the only fully validated simulator for image-guided interventional therapies. The resulting cases can be used for peer sharing, teaching, rehearsal before actual procedures, and building an expansive library of patient-specific training scenarios.

Target Users

  • Interventional neuroradiologists
  • Interventional radiologists
  • Interventional cardiologists
  • Residents and fellows in interventional cardiology

Key Features and Benefits

  • Import patient anatomy data directly from CT or MRI imaging to prepare for challenging cases
  • Build an unlimited, expandable library of patient-specific training cases
  • Share complex cases with colleagues for collaborative learning and teaching
  • Add pathologies to cases to create highly targeted and realistic training scenarios
  • Use cases as warm-up or rehearsal exercises before performing actual procedures
  • Enables re-enactment of completed procedures so peers and students can practice various treatment approaches
  • Reconstructed anatomy is stitched onto a template anatomy to create a complete vascular anatomy for procedural training, even when CT data covers only part of the patient's anatomy
  • Compatible with segmentation software users are already familiar with, minimising additional training requirements

How It Works

  1. The operator reconstructs the relevant patient anatomy from CT or MRI data using their preferred, market-leading segmentation workstation
  2. The reconstructed anatomy is imported using Case-It technology and integrated into a complete vascular anatomy template
  3. The resulting patient-specific simulation case is ready for use within the VIST® simulator for procedural training and rehearsal

Vision and Background

  • Simulation plays an increasingly important role in medical education, certification, and recertification, with growing demand for content tailored to specific needs and regions
  • Case-It technology allows users to select and utilise cases that best suit their individual training requirements
  • Case-It is the first step in a comprehensive environment for creating individualised training cases and content
  • Mentice is a pioneer in patient-specific training, having demonstrated the first live Mission Rehearsal case for Carotids at EuroPCR in 2004, with subsequent patient-specific cases developed for coronary and neuro interventions

Case-It Certified Program

  • Mentice has launched the Case-It Certified program to ensure seamless compatibility between Case-It and anatomy data from users' preferred segmentation workstations
  • Within this program, Mentice validates the output of professional and FDA-approved segmentation solutions to guarantee full compatibility

VIST® Case-It is available exclusively through NV Connect and is compatible with the VIST® G7 simulation platform. It integrates with Ankyras®, Mentice's braided stent support application, supporting workflow steps such as flow diverter case planning and direct import into the VIST® simulator for practice in patient-specific anatomy. The solution is intended for training purposes only and is not designed for clinical use or clinical decision-making.
