Veeva Vault Platform
Manage data, content, and agentic AI agents together for life sciences R&D and commercial workflows with built-in validation and compliance.
Overview
Veeva Vault Platform is an enterprise cloud platform designed specifically for life sciences organizations. It manages data, content, and AI agents within a single environment, supporting applications across both R&D and Commercial functions. The platform is built to meet life sciences requirements for performance, validation, and security, and currently supports more than 50 applications.
The platform is structured around three core principles: it operates as a proven, validated environment; it connects with external systems through open APIs; and it can be extended by customers and certified partners using the Java SDK and other tools.
Agentic AI and Industry-Specific AI Agents
- Built-in agentic AI: Agentic AI is built directly into the Vault Platform, enabling Veeva AI Agents to operate within all Veeva applications.
- Configure and extend AI Agents: Users can configure, extend, or build custom Veeva AI Agents. These agents include industry-specific prompts and safeguards, and have direct, secure access to Veeva application data, documents, and workflows.
- Available agents: Veeva AI Agents for Vault CRM and Veeva PromoMats are currently available, with agents spanning clinical, regulatory, safety, quality, medical, and commercial areas.
- AI partner ecosystem: Veeva supports broader industry AI adoption through the Direct Data API and the Veeva AI Partner Program.
Data, Content, and Agent Management
- Single platform: Data, content, and agents are managed together within deep, industry-specific workflows.
- Data model: The Vault Object Framework (VOF) allows creation of custom objects to manage structured business process data.
- Content management: Supports documents, videos, and images with versioning, lifecycles, annotations, renditions, electronic signatures, watermarks, document generation, templates, and sharing capabilities.
Compliance and Validation
- Validation: Every release is Installation Qualification (IQ) and Operational Qualification (OQ) validated, and includes a comprehensive validation package to reduce customer validation effort.
- Compliance: Audit trails, electronic signatures, validation processes, and configurable business logic are all managed within a strict change control environment.
Business Process Automation
- Lifecycle and workflows: Configurable lifecycle and workflow tools automate business processes, including automatic task assignment, data creation, email notifications, escalation, and security controls.
- Process reporting: Customizable metrics track time between key milestones to report on business process performance and effectiveness.
- Veeva Connections: Productized connections automate cross-functional workflows and data synchronization to improve data quality.
User Experience
- Role and task-based UI: The interface is action-oriented and configurable per user profile, controlling what information is displayed and when.
- Mobile access: Available on iOS and Android, supporting content search, document task completion, dashboard viewing, push notifications, unclassified document creation by file sharing, and OCR scanning for automatic text extraction and indexing.
- Microsoft Office integration: Supports collaborative co-authoring, renditioning, bookmarking, merge fields, and formatted outputs within Microsoft Office documents.
Reporting and Analytics
- Dashboards and reporting: Built-in reporting and dashboards allow users to share pre-built or customizable reports, charts, and dashboards, or export data for further analysis.
- Microsoft Excel report templates: Users can create Excel report templates using pivot tables, macros, formulas, charts, and conditional formatting to export Vault report data.
Configuration and Environment Management
- Visual configuration: Solutions can be implemented without writing code using point-and-click, browser-based tools to configure the UI, business logic, and data model.
- Sandbox Vaults and snapshots: Development and test environments can be created by cloning a Vault with configuration or data, refreshing a Vault, or creating new environments based on a point-in-time snapshot.
Security
- Atomic security: Provides granular control over specific user actions for documents and objects, based on lifecycle state and user role.
- Dynamic access control: Automates assignment of users to roles based on predefined sharing rules.
Integration
- Open API: REST APIs support integration with external systems, data migration, and automated processing.
- Direct Data API: A purpose-built API for large datasets, designed to access data approximately 100 times faster than traditional APIs, supporting advanced analytics, generative AI, data warehouses, and data lakes.
- Certified partner integrations: A partner ecosystem provides certified integrations with the Vault Platform for additional customer value.
Veeva Vault Platform is deployed as an enterprise cloud solution and supports organizations across the life sciences industry, including pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies. It integrates with external systems via REST and Direct Data APIs, and can be extended through the Java SDK and a certified partner network.
