Sample Master LIMS
Laboratory information management and sample tracking for labs of all sizes, with automated reporting, QA/QC, and compliance tools.
Overview
Sample Master LIMS, developed by Accelerated Technology Laboratories (ATL), is a comprehensive Laboratory Information Management System designed to support laboratories of all types and sizes. Leveraging open architecture and extensive automation, Sample Master accelerates accurate reporting, multiplies productivity, increases operational efficiency, and provides unparalleled data security. The system is available in both 100% Windows and 100% Web deployments, giving laboratories the flexibility to choose the environment that best suits their operations.
Sample Master is modular in design, allowing smaller laboratories to select hardware and software specific to their needs while supporting expansion as operations grow. Users can modify screen captions to common terminology, run modifiable canned reports, and incorporate new screens, report forms, queries, menus, and modules. Its intuitive user interface, integrated calculations, automated email alerts, Master Query functionality, scheduling, and automated reporting make it a feature-rich solution for laboratories across a wide range of industries.
Key Functional Modules
- Sample Tracking: Manages samples as they move through the laboratory, including integrated barcoding (1D, 2D, and RFID), sample login, chain of custody, quoting, and invoicing.
- Data Entry: Allows data to be received from analysts or instruments, with configurable user permissions to view, enter, validate, or approve results. Includes standard worklists and result reports with peer review capability.
- Sample Scheduling: Automates the login of routinely collected samples on daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual schedules. Automatically generates bottle labels, worklists, and sample kits in advance of sampling events.
- QA/QC: Enables graphing of results and creation of control charts based on criteria such as test, sample number, or analyst. Supports integration with NWA for more sophisticated statistical analysis.
- Electronic Data Transfer: Facilitates direct electronic transfer of data from instruments to Sample Master via formats including .XLS, .CSV, text (ASCII), HTML, and others. Can be configured to scan directories and import multiple files or data from multiple runs.
- Asbestos Package: Provides efficient, automated functionality for managing asbestos data, generating NVLAP-compliant reports, and creating invoices. Supports PLM, TEM, and PCM processes.
- Chemical Inventory: Tracks supplies and vendors, supports receiving and reconciling supplies, and warns users when stock is running low. Tracks lot numbers, vendor information, and expiration dates to support ISO 17025 compliance.
- Resource Management: Manages instrument calibrations, repairs, and personnel certificates. Records expiration dates and can be configured to disallow data input from instruments that are out of calibration.
- Customer Relationship Management (CRM): Tracks customer inquiries and complaints, including contact method, responsible personnel, issue severity, and resolution actions. Includes reports such as customer history, open issues by severity, and summary reports.
- LIMS Maintenance: Serves as a central location to enter and edit system-wide information including sites, collectors, client contacts, employees, permissions, sample numbering formats, tests, methods, limits, QC information, departments, and defaults.
Built-In Automated Calculations
- Automated BOD Calculations: The integrated BOD tool automatically calculates and reports BOD/CBOD results in seconds based on standard methods criteria. It flags data outside acceptable limits, completes all required calculations, and is designed to be user-friendly with minimal training required.
- Automated MPN (Most Probable Number): Supports MPN analysis commonly used in environmental and drinking water laboratories. Both the traditional manual method using Thomas Tables and the modern IDEXX method with QuantiTrays are fully integrated into Sample Master.
Asbestos Package Capabilities
- Streamlines PLM, PCM, and TEM analysis, validation, and approval workflows.
- Automatically e-signs NVLAP-compliant reports and generates and converts invoices to PDFs for automated emailing.
- Includes a PCM calculator with automated alerts and calculations.
- PLM function allows insertion, copying, and deletion of layers during analysis, with color-coded alerts indicating when 100% of an analysis component has been reached.
- TEM users can link images and develop custom image libraries.
- Supports automated label printing and barcoding to expedite accessioning and sample analysis.
- Manages Standard Operating Procedures, employee training records, chemical inventory, and customer-specific limits and reporting requirements.
iMobile for Sample Master
- Sample Master iMobile enables field users to upload testing site data in real-time using any qualified mobile device with a web browser and internet connection.
- Field data is encrypted and transmitted securely to the laboratory, integrating seamlessly with Sample Master LIMS.
- Eliminates the need to manually re-enter field measurements or return hard copies to the laboratory, reducing errors and improving efficiency.
Sample Master LIMS is available as a Software as a Service (SaaS) offering and is supported by ATL's consulting services and training programs through ATL Academy. The system serves a broad range of industries including environmental, water and wastewater, food and beverage, cannabis, agriculture, biotechnology, pharma, healthcare, chemical, forensics, manufacturing, and materials testing. Brochures are available in English, Spanish, German, and Portuguese.
