Quicktome

Brain network mapping from single MRI scans for neurosurgical planning and patient-specific clinical insights.

Overview

Quicktome is a cloud-based brain mapping platform developed by Omniscient (o8t), intended for brain health physicians — including neurosurgeons and neuroradiologists — who require detailed knowledge of a patient's brain networks to inform clinical decisions. The platform processes data from a single, non-invasive MRI scan automatically and delivers results through a web-based application, without requiring new capital equipment or maintenance fees.

Quicktome supports the visualization of clinically critical brain networks, aids in preserving functional independence, and helps reduce the risk of post-surgical deficits. According to Omniscient's Post Market Clinical Survey, all surveyed neurosurgeons agreed that Quicktome helps them communicate with patients more effectively about surgical outcomes.

Core Features

  • Structural and Functional Brain Mapping: Users can switch between insights generated by white matter analyses (tractography) and whole-brain functional mapping via resting-state fMRI (rs-fMRI). Functional connectomic analysis tools, including resting-state fMRI processing and seed-based correlation analysis, are available as newer capabilities.
  • Network Selection: The platform allows clinicians to select and interrogate brain networks, tract bundles, and individual brain parcels, drawing on decades of published research.
  • Workflow Presets: Pre-configured workflow presets streamline clinical workflows, and custom presets can be created to support site-specific requirements.
  • Interactive Connectome Guide: Clicking on a parcel in 2D or 3D view provides encyclopedic information on associated networks, anatomical region location, and potential deficits.
  • Compatible Exports: All brain maps can be exported to third-party DICOM-compatible devices.

Processing and Mapping Technology

  • 360 Functional Areas via SCA Technology: Omniscient's Structural Connectivity Atlas (SCA) uses machine learning and tractographic techniques to generate highly specific, personalized maps of the human brain across 360 functional areas.
  • Constrained Spherical Deconvolution (CSD) Tractography: CSD is used in place of traditional Diffusion Tensor Imaging, offering greater precision in areas of crossing and branching white matter, which supports more accurate preservation and targeting of functional areas.
  • Automatic Edema Correction: The platform mitigates processing noise related to cerebral edema, enabling brain network mapping in critical regions such as those surrounding a brain tumor prior to surgery.
  • Noise Correction: Raw MRI scans undergo multiple correction steps, including gradient distortion correction and subject motion correction.

Clinical Applications

  • Neurosurgeons: Quicktome provides knowledge of a patient's brain networks to inform surgical decisions, with the aim of preserving functional independence and maximizing onco-functional balance.
  • Neuroradiologists: Automated resting-state fMRI insights and personalized connectome mapping support a Hybrid Intelligence approach that combines AI-derived analysis with human clinical expertise.
  • Hospital Administration: The platform delivers brain network insights without requiring new capital equipment or ongoing maintenance fees, making it accessible within existing hospital infrastructure.

Integrations

  • Hospital PACS: Quicktome integrates with hospital Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), allowing clinicians to review and export processed scans remotely from a desktop computer via PACS-connected DICOM systems.

Quicktome is accompanied by supporting resources including published clinical studies, a whitepaper on brain map construction, an interactive Connectome Guide, and a video case study library covering clinical scenarios such as glioma resection and restoration of speech function. Regional availability of certain features, including rs-fMRI, may vary.
