MyDataHelps
Digital clinical trial and research data collection integrating wearables, eConsent, ePROs, and EHR data—launch in hours with no coding.
Overview
MyDataHelps is a digital clinical trial and research platform developed by CareEvolution. It is designed for researchers and developers who need to build, launch, and manage clinical trials and research studies that collect data from participants remotely. The platform has been used in large-scale studies including the Framingham Heart Study, NIH's All of Us Research Program, and the RECOVER COVID Initiative.
The platform supports no-code study configuration, wearable and device data integration, electronic consent, electronic patient-reported outcomes (ePROs), and clinical outcome assessments (eCOAs). It is intended to reduce geographic and logistical barriers to participant recruitment and retention.
Core Product Features
- No-code study builder integrated with REDCap, including a library of validated survey instruments and NIH common data elements, allowing trials to be configured and launched in hours.
- Digital recruitment tools that remove geographic and time constraints, supporting more diverse participant populations.
- Scheduled and real-time notifications, including nudges triggered by participant wearable data such as heart rate, physical activity, and mood, to support participant retention.
- Collection and combination of real-world health data from wearables and devices, EHR data, and ecological momentary assessments (EMAs) to build longitudinal participant health records.
Researcher Workflow
- Sign up: Create a free account to begin designing a study.
- Choose data types: Select from the survey library or create custom eCOAs including ePROs, clinician-reported outcomes (clinROs), and performance outcomes (perfOs). Set custom delivery schedules and enable wearable, device, EHR, and claims data collection.
- Recruit participants: Reach participants via email, SMS, QR code, or in-person. Collect eConsent with eSignatures.
- Engage and retain: Schedule SMS, email, or push notifications. Provide rewards such as eGiftCards, deliver educational resources, and return results to participants.
- Monitor and intervene: Use remote monitoring to collect time-sensitive biomarker data and deliver just-in-time interventions.
- Export and analyze: Export study data to a cloud or SFTP server in CSV, JSON, or Parquet format.
Developer Capabilities
- MyDataHelps SDKs and APIs allow developers to customize and extend the pre-built MyDataHelps application to meet specific research requirements, including building custom surveys, guiding participants through workflows, and returning results.
- The APIs and SDKs can also be used to integrate individual MyDataHelps features — such as surveys, notifications, device data collection, and EHR connections — directly into existing web or mobile applications.
Example Studies
- Asthma Digital Study: A 900-patient randomized controlled study providing a digital solution for asthma self-management. Participants logged symptoms and triggers and received personalized, just-in-time education. Data was collected from a provided smartwatch and sleep sensor, with nudges sent when data fell outside expected ranges.
- Scripps DETECT: Used MyDataHelps to collect and analyze wearable health data for early detection of COVID-19 and other viral illnesses.
- ITAP: MyDataHelps enabled a two-week lead time to study launch, supporting over-the-counter COVID-19 test applications for FDA approval.
- NIH's All of Us: MyDataHelps supports the NIH in reaching underrepresented populations and capturing longitudinal data to advance precision health.
- SAFER-COVID: A platform backed by NIH and CDC research, providing science-based tools for managing COVID-19 risks.
MyDataHelps supports data export to cloud or SFTP destinations in multiple formats and offers SDKs and APIs for integration into custom applications. The platform is available to researchers through a free account and to developers through documented APIs and example resources.
