medicalvalues Client
Secure medical data distribution and integration across clinical applications, AIS systems, and healthcare workflows.
Overview
The medicalvalues Client is a secure, intelligent data distribution and integration solution designed for clinics and medical practices. It enables the seamless exchange of medical data both internally and externally, connecting a wide range of medical applications within a single, centrally managed framework. The Client is compatible with all common practice and hospital information systems, including tomedo, medatixx, inSuite, CGM Medistar, SMR, E-PAT, and Elexis, and can orchestrate data flows between different workstations by connecting diverse source systems and printers.
Built on a dual-component architecture, the medicalvalues Client combines centralised online management with a locally installed application, giving healthcare institutions full control over their data integration workflows. It is built using the Rust programming language, ensuring modern robustness and highest stability, and is available cross-platform, supporting Windows, Mac OS, and more.
Core Components
- Client Management: An online interface for centralised configuration and management of institution-wide settings, allowing administrators to oversee and control data transfer rules and integrations from a single location.
- Local Client: A locally installed application that enables structured data integration and transfer into and out of Hospital Information Systems (HIS), Practice Management Systems (AIS), and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS).
Key Features and Capabilities
- Deep Integration: Deep integration with modern AIS and HIS systems through data transfer via APIs and UI/UX plugins.
- Controlled Data Transfer: Individually triggered data transfer through controls within AIS or HIS, or setup of permanent data transfer managed and controlled via Client Management.
- Data Distribution: Internal and external data distribution, including data write-back (e.g., DFÜ/LDT) to any APIs.
- Printer Management: Advanced management and orchestration of printers across workstations.
- Digital Signature: Support for Qualified Electronic Signature (QES), for example for prescription forms.
- Data Integration and Interoperability: Decentralised FHIR APIs and targeted data sharing and importing, including support for Disease Management Programmes (DMP).
- KIM Interface: Enables secure, standardised communication across healthcare systems.
- Fail-safe Performance: Continuous monitoring of application status with automatic compensation ensures high availability and reliability.
Order Entry System Workflow
- A new order is created in the Practice Management System (PMS).
- The Client transmits patient information for order creation to the Order Entry system.
- The order is assembled within the Order Entry system.
- The print job for required labels and documents is sent to the printer via the Client.
- Order information for the submitted order is sent back to the PMS, and report information is delivered once available.
Use Cases and Applications
- Order Entry System: Automatic import of patient data to streamline order creation.
- Patient Portal: Provide patients with processed, annotated reports and medication plans.
- Patient Forms: Enable digital patient form workflows with data write-back into the AIS.
- Practice Research: Create medical and procedural statistics to support clinical insights.
- Cross-Sectoral Care: Make patient data usable for a broad range of digital healthcare applications.
The medicalvalues Client is developed by medicalvalues GmbH and is designed to support complex, multi-system healthcare environments. Its interoperability with FHIR APIs, KIM interfaces, and a wide range of AIS and HIS platforms makes it well-suited for institutions seeking robust, standards-compliant data integration across clinical and administrative workflows.
