WellSpan Health and Philips have formed a seven-year collaboration aimed at enhancing imaging and diagnostics technology across Central Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland.
This partnership marks the first of its kind between Philips and a U.S. community health system, integrating a research agreement, joint innovation strategy, and a long-term commercial relationship. The focus will be on validating AI and digital tools designed to improve hospital efficiency, including throughput, costs, and workflow management.
As part of the initiative, advanced imaging technologies will be rolled out across 12 WellSpan facilities, including hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. This effort aims to create a cohesive technology lifecycle management system that encompasses equipment, training, and software upgrades, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and addressing regional gaps in access to advanced diagnostics.
Roxanna Gapstur, CEO of WellSpan, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in positioning community health systems at the forefront of healthcare innovation. Roy Jakobs, CEO of Philips, noted that this partnership aims to leverage both organizations' strengths to foster measurable improvements in patient care and operational performance, ultimately shaping the future of healthcare delivery.
