Leica Biosystems and Versant Diagnostics are enhancing their partnership to promote digital pathology through the deployment of the Aperio GT Elite solution, marking a significant advancement in laboratory technology.
This collaboration has led to PRW Laboratories becoming the first facility globally to implement the Aperio GT Elite, a high-throughput digital pathology scanner designed for efficient slide processing. The scanner can rapidly process slides in as little as 22 seconds, integrating Laboratory Information System (LIS) data to automate scanning protocols based on specific criteria, such as tissue type or staining.
Naveen Chandra, VP and General Manager of Digital Pathology at Leica Biosystems, emphasized that the goal of this innovation is to enhance the speed and accuracy of laboratory decisions, ultimately benefiting patient care. The Aperio GT Elite aims to streamline workflows by minimizing manual steps, reflecting a commitment to scalable solutions that facilitate the transition to digital pathology.
This deployment illustrates the increasing acceptance of AI-driven digital pathology and builds on the existing collaboration between the two companies, which previously utilized the Aperio GT 450 scanner.
