PainChek has announced the appointment of Karen Holzberger as CEO, effective August 17, 2026, marking a strategic move as the company seeks to expand its presence in the US market following recent FDA clearance.

Holzberger brings over 26 years of experience in healthcare leadership, particularly in the medtech sector. Her previous roles include CEO of SpinTech MRI, where she enhanced MRI technology for neurosurgery, and senior positions at Nuance Healthcare, focusing on AI-driven diagnostic imaging solutions. Her extensive background positions her well to lead PainChek in its growth trajectory.

This leadership change comes after the departure of former CEO Daffas and the interim leadership of Andy Hoggan, who will revert to his COO role. PainChek is currently leveraging its FDA De Novo clearance to solidify partnerships, including a significant agreement with Sabra Health Care REIT for the deployment of its AI-powered pain assessment tool across thousands of healthcare beds.

Holzberger expressed enthusiasm for her new role, emphasizing her commitment to boosting commercial outcomes and expanding PainChek’s customer base in North America while continuing growth in existing markets. This appointment is seen as pivotal for PainChek as it aims to set new standards in pain management through innovative technology.
