Uncovr has successfully raised $7 million in seed funding to enhance its AI-driven surgical documentation platform, aimed at automating procedural coding and clinical documentation.
Led by Index Ventures, this funding round also saw contributions from Seedcamp, Frst, No Labels Ventures, and several notable healthcare figures, including the founders of Digital Surgery and Color Health. Uncovr, founded in 2025 by Ines Iraki, Johann Diep, and Eric Vibert, M.D., Ph.D., leverages surgical video and intraoperative data to streamline the creation of operative reports, minimizing the need for manual documentation processes.
The platform is already in use across over 400 operating rooms in top hospitals in the U.S. and Europe. Unlike traditional ambient scribing tools that depend on post-procedure dictation, Uncovr prioritizes surgical video as the main source of clinical data, aiming to enhance the completeness of operative notes and improve coding accuracy.
According to Index Ventures partner Martin Mignot, Uncovr's early success in complex clinical settings highlights its potential for growth. The company has identified a significant issue, noting that 16% of procedures missed billable steps, which could lead to a 10% reimbursement gap due to documentation errors. The new funding will facilitate the expansion of Uncovr’s engineering team and support further deployments across hospital systems.
This development underscores the increasing importance of AI in surgical environments, promising to enhance operational efficiency and financial accuracy in healthcare documentation.
