UK artificial intelligence (AI) investment reached an unprecedented £4.56 billion in the second quarter of 2026, marking a significant increase from previous periods, according to Beauhurst's latest report.
This figure represents a 4.1% rise from the first quarter of 2026 and a staggering 186.8% increase compared to Q2 2025, when investments totaled £1.59 billion. This surge makes Q2 2026 the highest quarter for AI funding in the UK, surpassing the previous record of £4.38 billion set just a few months prior.
In total, there were 1,070 equity deals across various sectors in the UK during Q2, amounting to £8.01 billion. AI fundraising comprised 269 of these deals, accounting for approximately 25% of all equity transactions and 57% of total capital raised. Notably, eight fundraising rounds exceeded £100 million, primarily led by firms such as Isomorphic Labs and Ineffable Intelligence.
The life sciences sector emerged as the dominant area for AI investment, attracting £1.52 billion through 36 deals, largely due to Isomorphic Labs’ substantial fundraising. Other key sectors included AI infrastructure and enterprise software, with financial services also showing a high deal count. This robust investment landscape positions AI as a crucial component of the UK’s private company market, with expectations for further growth as additional funding rounds may be disclosed in the coming months.
