UChicago Medicine has partnered with Artisight to enhance its smart hospital platform, aiming to improve patient care and operational efficiency.
The collaboration will deploy over 1,800 devices throughout UChicago Medicine's clinical settings, including patient rooms and operating areas. A significant aspect of this initiative is the integration of the smart platform into a new 575,000-square-foot cancer care facility, set to open in April 2027. This strategic move reflects UChicago Medicine's commitment to leveraging technology in healthcare delivery.
Artisight's innovative platform employs artificial intelligence, computer vision, and real-time location systems to create a cohesive clinical environment. It features voice-activated services and integrates with electronic health records, enhancing workflow and communication among healthcare teams. Yeman Collier, UChicago Medicine's Chief Information Officer, emphasized the aim to reduce administrative burdens and improve safety and clinical outcomes through this technology.
According to Andrew Gostine, CEO of Artisight, this partnership signifies a shift towards more cohesive hospital systems capable of automating routine tasks and enhancing patient care. The smart platform aims to facilitate ambient sensing and automation, which can lead to better patient outcomes, including fall prevention and early risk identification. As hospitals report measurable improvements, this initiative could set a new standard for personalized care and operational coordination in healthcare settings.
