Scispot has successfully raised $8 million in a Series A funding round, led by Avenue Growth Partners, to enhance its AI-native laboratory operations platform.

The Kitchener-Waterloo-based company aims to tackle the persistent issue of fragmented laboratory data and disconnected operational systems in life sciences research and diagnostics. Despite advancements in automation and sequencing technologies, many organizations still rely on outdated methods like spreadsheets and isolated data repositories, necessitating extensive manual coordination.

Scispot’s platform serves as a unified operating layer that integrates laboratory instruments, workflows, and compliance processes, streamlining operations and reducing administrative burdens. Currently, it is utilized in over 100 enterprise laboratories across various sectors, including biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, supporting more than 250 types of instruments and managing millions of samples.

By providing real-time contextualization of laboratory activities, Scispot not only enhances operational efficiency but also lays the groundwork for AI applications in the life sciences. The company emphasizes that structured, high-quality data is crucial for successful AI implementation, particularly in drug discovery and diagnostics, allowing scientific teams to make informed decisions more rapidly.
