Sanofi India has launched AccelRare, a novel AI-driven pre-diagnostic tool aimed at aiding the identification of rare diseases in children. This innovative platform analyzes various patient data, including symptoms and medical history, to suggest the five most likely diagnoses from a comprehensive database of 310 rare diseases.
The tool addresses a significant challenge in pediatric healthcare, where rare diseases often present with symptoms similar to more common illnesses, complicating timely diagnosis. Milan Choksey, Medical Lead for Rare Diseases at Sanofi India, emphasized that delays in diagnosis can lead to irreversible damage, highlighting the tool's potential to expedite the diagnostic process in busy clinical environments.
AccelRare is accessible online without the need for registration, allowing healthcare providers to input anonymized patient information. The platform boasts an impressive diagnostic accuracy rate of 88%, offering not only probable disease matches but also detailed summaries, suggested follow-up tests, and referral options to specialized centers.
This tool has been validated by a network of 67 rare disease experts and is classified as a Class A medical device in India. By leveraging advanced AI technology, AccelRare represents a significant step forward in the early detection of rare diseases, potentially transforming patient outcomes in pediatric care.
