Qlucore has secured a third installment of approximately EUR 0.5 million from a total EU grant of EUR 2.5 million, aimed at enhancing cancer diagnostic solutions.
The funding is part of a three-year initiative focused on developing clinical diagnostic software for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and bladder cancer. With the recent approval, Qlucore is set to continue its progress in creating CE-marked software intended for clinical laboratories, which will also aid in developing companion diagnostics in partnership with pharmaceutical companies.
AML and bladder cancer are specifically targeted due to their intricate RNA profiles, which hold promise for improving diagnostic accuracy and treatment selection. Currently, the potential of these molecular signatures is underutilized in clinical settings, and this project aims to facilitate their integration into routine practice for more personalized treatment options.
Qlucore's advancements follow previous investments in their diagnostics platform, including the launch of Qlucore Diagnostics BCP-ALL, which is already operational in clinical laboratories. CEO Carl-Johan Ivarsson noted that the latest EU payment bolsters Qlucore's financial position and propels their work in RNA-seq-based diagnostics. The company initially targets clinical labs in Europe, with plans for eventual expansion into the U.S. market.
This initiative not only underscores Qlucore's commitment to advancing precision medicine but also highlights the broader trend in the life sciences sector towards integrating AI and molecular data to enhance patient outcomes and optimize healthcare costs.
