Precision Diabetes and Nagase Diagnostics have formed an exclusive partnership to commercialize the FDA-cleared Lucica® Glycated Albumin-L assay in the U.S., enhancing diabetes management capabilities.
This collaboration aims to broaden access to a significant glycemic biomarker that serves as an intermediate-term measure of glycemic control, complementing established methods like HbA1c and Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM). The Lucica® Glycated Albumin-L assay offers insights into glycemic status over a two to three-week period, which is particularly beneficial for clinicians in adjusting diabetes treatments and monitoring patients with specific conditions, such as chronic kidney disease and hemoglobinopathies.
Precision Diabetes will spearhead the commercialization efforts, focusing on market development, laboratory partnerships, and educational initiatives to facilitate the assay's adoption. The assay's specificity in measuring glycated albumin sets it apart from other biomarkers, potentially providing more accurate insights into a patient's glycemic control.
This partnership represents a strategic move to enhance diabetes management through innovative diagnostic tools. By leveraging their combined expertise, Precision Diabetes and Nagase Diagnostics aim to improve clinical decision-making and patient outcomes in diabetes care, particularly as healthcare providers increasingly seek individualized treatment approaches.
