NIMS and IISc have initiated a collaborative project aimed at developing AI tools to enhance early disease detection and personalized healthcare solutions.
This partnership focuses on creating advanced healthcare technologies that target early diagnosis, risk assessment, and tailored treatments for conditions such as cancer, kidney disease, heart issues, and obesity. The initial phase, set to last six months, will involve analyzing clinical datasets and designing AI algorithms to form foundational models for future clinical use.
Dr. P Chandrasekhar, Dean of NIMS, emphasized that these AI models aim not only to boost the speed and accuracy of diagnoses but also to facilitate clinical decision-making and improve healthcare accessibility for the public. The long-term goal is to develop AI systems that cater specifically to the Indian patient demographic, integrating seamlessly into existing healthcare frameworks.
This collaboration builds on prior discussions among NIMS, the TANUH Foundation, and IISc's Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence in Healthcare, outlining a vision for multi-center AI studies and precision medicine. By merging clinical expertise with advanced research, the partnership aspires to enhance India's digital health ecosystem and improve patient outcomes through innovative AI-driven technologies.
