Maharashtra Minister Ashish Shelar has urged the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to modernize Mumbai's public healthcare system through the integration of advanced medical technologies and comprehensive administrative reforms.
During a recent high-level meeting, Shelar emphasized that enhancing the quality of healthcare should be the BMC's primary focus. He called for a thorough review of current healthcare processes to identify inefficiencies and develop a strategic plan aimed at improving service delivery across municipal hospitals. Key areas of concern include upgrading outpatient departments (OPDs) and restroom facilities, which are essential for patient comfort and care.
Additionally, Shelar highlighted the importance of not just expanding infrastructure but also incorporating modern medical technologies and MedTech solutions to elevate healthcare services to national and international standards. The meeting also involved discussions about expediting the hiring of healthcare staff, particularly those who served during the COVID-19 pandemic, to address staffing shortages effectively.
In light of these directives, the BMC is expected to create a detailed reform plan that considers various factors affecting patient care. The overarching goal is to enhance the healthcare experience for Mumbaikars through a combination of infrastructure improvements, technology integration, and better administrative practices.
