Moonlight AI, a Swiss startup focusing on AI-driven cancer diagnostics, has successfully secured €2.8 million in Seed funding to enhance its innovative technology.
This funding round was co-led by Lotus One Investment, VP Venture Partners, and MEDIN Fund, with additional support from N&V Capital and existing investor QAI Ventures. Founded in 2022, Moonlight AI aims to democratize genomic data access, facilitating precise cancer diagnostics without the need for expensive Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies. Their approach leverages computer vision to extract genomic biomarkers from routine blood and cytology imaging, significantly speeding up diagnostic processes and reducing costs.
The funds will be directed towards expanding Moonlight AI's proprietary data library, which links whole slide imaging with high-quality genomic data. The company is also collaborating with an international consortium to ensure the reliability of its AI models across diverse laboratory environments and patient demographics. Additionally, the startup plans to develop diagnostic solutions for conditions such as myelodysplastic syndrome, non-small cell lung cancer, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
This funding marks a significant step in Moonlight AI's journey as it transitions into a Swiss Stock Corporation, paving the way for international expansion. The emphasis on high-quality clinical data in AI diagnostics underscores the potential for improved patient outcomes, as the company seeks to engage more hospitals and laboratories in its mission to advance diagnostic technology.
