A recent survey by Deloitte reveals that over 90% of pharmaceutical and medtech executives anticipate significant impacts from recent tariff developments on their operations. This indicates a shift in how these leaders perceive tariffs and policy changes, now viewing them as integral to their business landscape rather than unexpected disruptions.

The survey, which included 120 global executives, highlighted that 79% expect tariffs and policy changes to significantly influence their companies in the coming year. Interestingly, a year ago, only 34% of executives believed the greatest impact would be felt within a similar timeframe. This growing concern reflects a broader acceptance of tariffs as a persistent factor in the life sciences sector.

Key findings indicate that more than 70% of respondents are reconsidering their manufacturing locations due to federal actions, with medtech leaders more likely to feel immediate effects compared to their biopharma counterparts. Additionally, 44% of respondents are increasing regional manufacturing in response to tariffs, and nearly 70% have made moderate to extensive adjustments to their supply chain strategies.

This data underscores the resilience of life sciences executives amid evolving trade policies. As they adapt to these challenges, the industry may see shifts in manufacturing strategies and pricing models, potentially reshaping the landscape of pharmaceutical and medtech production in the U.S. and beyond.
