The Indian government is set to enhance child healthcare through the launch of digital health cards as part of the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) 2.0 initiative.
This upgraded program aims to provide comprehensive health monitoring for children from birth to 18 years, leveraging digital tools and artificial intelligence for early disease detection and timely treatment. A notable feature is the Digital Health Card, which will maintain a detailed medical record for each child, including immunization history, medical evaluations, and treatment plans. This initiative is expected to establish a national health database that allows for real-time tracking of healthcare referrals and follow-ups.
Schools and Anganwadi centers will play a crucial role in this initiative, serving as the primary venues for health screenings. Mobile health teams will regularly conduct assessments to identify potential health issues early on. Additionally, the program aims to foster collaboration among various governmental departments, enhancing awareness around nutrition, hygiene, and mental health in educational settings.
RBSK 2.0 expands the previous framework's focus on birth defects and developmental delays to encompass non-communicable diseases and mental health issues. By integrating artificial intelligence, the program aims to streamline health data management and improve decision-making processes, ultimately reducing treatment delays and ensuring consistent healthcare for children.
