The Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) is spearheading initiatives to propel local start-ups into global markets through participation in two significant international events this June: VivaTech in Paris and the BIO International Convention in San Diego.
These events aim to showcase Hong Kong's innovative capabilities, particularly in AI, green technology, and life and health sciences. At VivaTech, 24 local tech ventures will present their solutions, including Formwork IO, which focuses on sustainable building materials, and LeafIoT, which integrates AI with traditional diagnostics for ecological restoration. Following this, the BIO convention will feature a record number of 41 Hong Kong firms, highlighting advancements in biotech and therapeutics.
HKSTP's CEO, Terry Wong Ping-sau, emphasized the importance of these missions in enhancing Hong Kong's position as a global tech hub and attracting international partnerships. The participation of notable universities and start-ups like GenEditBio and Immuno Cure underscores the region's robust innovation landscape, particularly in developing cutting-edge therapies and technologies.
These efforts not only aim to elevate local start-ups but also to establish Hong Kong as a pivotal connector in the global biotech ecosystem. With increasing international collaboration and attention on Hong Kong's biotech sector, the initiatives reflect a broader trend of global engagement and resource exchange, particularly with the mainland's burgeoning biotech industry.
