Firebird has launched Firebird Labs, an initiative aimed at fostering innovation in AI and related fields within Armenia's educational landscape.
Firebird Labs is set to incubate and fund startups in sectors including robotics, physical AI, aerospace, and life sciences. This initiative is in collaboration with OpenAI and Armenia’s Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport, targeting 50,000 students, educators, and researchers. The platform intends to invest in up to five startups each year, providing access to OpenAI technologies, mentorship, and essential compute infrastructure.
With a vision to establish Armenia as a significant AI hub, Firebird is also expanding its GPU infrastructure, aiming for a scale of 1,000 dedicated GPUs by 2027. This growth is part of a broader investment strategy that includes a planned $4 billion investment to enhance the country's technological capabilities by the end of 2026.
Firebird co-founder Alexander Yesayan emphasized the importance of educational investment in shaping the future of technology. The partnership with OpenAI aims to make advanced AI tools accessible, thereby strengthening Armenia's innovation ecosystem. This initiative not only enhances local talent but also positions Armenia competitively in the global AI landscape.
