Fathom Therapeutics, previously known as Atommap, has successfully raised $47 million in an oversubscribed Series A funding round, aimed at enhancing its innovative drug design capabilities through quantum chemistry and AI technologies.

Led by Sutter Hill Ventures, this financing round also saw participation from several other prominent investors. Fathom's proprietary platform, Microcosmos, leverages advanced algorithms to simulate protein dynamics at an unprecedented scale, facilitating the design of small molecules that can effectively alter protein behavior for therapeutic purposes. The company has demonstrated its potential by quickly developing promising candidates for challenging drug targets, including those previously deemed "undruggable."

In addition to the funding, Fathom has strengthened its leadership team by appointing Mandana Honu as Chief Business Officer and adding Diala Ezzeddine to its board of directors. The company has also formed a Scientific Advisory Board to further guide its research and development strategies, bringing together experts with extensive experience in drug discovery and biotechnology.

This funding will enable Fathom to expand its internal discovery programs and enhance its lab-in-the-loop capabilities, ultimately accelerating the development of new small molecule therapies. The company's mission is to overcome significant hurdles in drug design, aiming to deliver innovative treatments that were previously thought impossible.
