eNLife Research raises ₹6 crore to develop AI-based blood test for Alzheimer’s detection

Bengaluru-based startup eNLife Research has secured ₹6 crore in seed funding to enhance its AI-driven diagnostic platform aimed at early detection of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders.

The funding round, led by Piper Serica VC Fund, will facilitate the development and validation of eNLife's blood-based biomarker platform. This initiative aims to transition the company's diagnostic assay from prototype to clinical-grade validation, thereby making early Alzheimer’s detection more accessible in India, especially before traditional diagnostic methods can identify the disease.

Founded by a team including Dr. Deepak Kumaran Nair from the Indian Institute of Science, eNLife is focused on creating a blood test that screens for multiple biomarkers linked to Alzheimer’s. The startup's approach is designed to be less invasive and more cost-effective compared to conventional methods like PET and MRI scans, allowing for quicker results from routine diagnostic centers.

eNLife's collaboration with prominent research institutions aims to develop biomarker datasets tailored to the Indian population, addressing genetic and lifestyle differences that impact disease presentation. This funding not only supports the technology’s development but also emphasizes the importance of early detection in improving patient outcomes and planning for care.

This innovative approach could revolutionize Alzheimer’s diagnostics in India, potentially identifying the disease up to 15 years earlier than current methods.
