Edge Hill University has joined the Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA), enhancing its role in health and life sciences research.

The NHSA is a collaborative network uniting prominent universities and NHS trusts across Northern England, aimed at leveraging regional strengths to improve health outcomes and stimulate economic growth. By joining this alliance, Edge Hill University aligns itself with 20 other research-focused institutions, enhancing its capacity to address pressing health challenges.

Edge Hill's Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine, alongside its Health Research Institute, aims to tackle health inequalities and improve care for vulnerable populations. Their focus includes supporting children, pregnant women, and those with long-term conditions, while also fostering a sustainable workforce in health and social care.

Professor Jeremy Brown highlighted that this membership opens doors for collaborative research and funding opportunities, enabling Edge Hill to influence government policy and enhance health services. The NHSA's initiatives will facilitate advancements in areas such as nutrition, AI, diagnostics, and mental health, ultimately benefiting communities across the North.

As noted by NHSA CEO Hannah Davies, the inclusion of Edge Hill University is a strategic move to strengthen regional collaboration, drive innovation, and attract investment, thereby delivering significant benefits to the local population.
