Cosmo N.V. has announced that its partner, Glenmark Specialty S.A., has launched Winlevi® (clascoterone 10 mg/g cream) in key European markets, marking a significant step in addressing acne vulgaris treatment.
Following the European Commission's approval in October 2025, Winlevi® is now available for adults and adolescents aged 12 to 18, with specific restrictions on adolescent use. Glenmark is spearheading the launch across various regions, including the Nordics, Central and Eastern Europe, and Spain, while also collaborating with strategic partners for additional market entries.
Winlevi® stands out as the first topical acne treatment in over four decades, utilizing clascoterone to inhibit androgen receptors locally within the sebaceous glands. This innovative mechanism helps reduce sebum production and inflammation without systemic side effects, making it suitable for both genders. The introduction of Winlevi® adds a valuable option for healthcare providers and patients managing acne, a condition affecting a significant portion of the population.
Cosmo's CEO, Giovanni Di Napoli, highlighted that this launch is a pivotal milestone for the company, reinforcing their commitment to expanding their dermatology portfolio through strategic partnerships. Glenmark’s Group Vice President, Jiri Havranek, emphasized the importance of this launch in enhancing their dermatology offerings and addressing unmet patient needs. The collaboration between Cosmo and Glenmark exemplifies a focused approach to delivering innovative solutions in the life sciences sector.
