Commure has successfully raised $70 million to enhance its AI healthcare operations platform, achieving a valuation of $7 billion.

The funding round, led by General Catalyst with participation from Sequoia Capital, Morgan Stanley, and Kirkland & Ellis, is aimed at accelerating the deployment of Commure's AI-driven administrative and clinical tools across global health systems. The company focuses on automating administrative tasks that cost U.S. healthcare providers around $1 trillion annually, currently serving over 500 organizations and 3,000 care sites, including major networks like HCA Healthcare and Tenet Healthcare.

Commure's systems efficiently manage revenue cycles, processing tens of billions of dollars in payments with over 85% of tasks completed without human intervention. The new capital will help scale its platforms and expand its AI infrastructure internationally. CEO Tanay Tandon emphasized that while traditional software has fallen short in addressing administrative work, AI is now capable of handling complex tasks such as claims and appeals, enabling broader implementation across healthcare systems.

This funding comes amid a competitive landscape in the healthcare payments sector, where both providers and insurers are increasingly leveraging AI. A recent report highlighted concerns regarding aggressive coding practices by hospitals using AI, which insurers argue inflate costs. Conversely, hospitals assert that advanced AI tools are essential to counteract payer tactics, underscoring the growing importance of AI in streamlining healthcare operations and improving financial outcomes.
