Catalent Inc. has introduced Qai, an innovative AI tool aimed at enhancing quality management processes within its operations.
The launch of Qai marks a significant step for Catalent, a global contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), as it integrates AI into its quality management systems. This enterprise-level solution is designed to improve processes related to deviations and complaints by utilizing Catalent’s extensive data for quicker analysis and effective root cause identification. Qai aims to enhance the speed and consistency of decision-making, ultimately aiding in compliance within the highly regulated manufacturing sector.
Developed in collaboration with Microsoft, Qai employs advanced AI technologies from Azure, including Foundry and Fabric, to streamline quality workflows. This integration not only accelerates reporting and reduces documentation delays but also strengthens the overall quality of operations. As noted by Catalent's Chief Technology Officer, Charlie Lickfold, the tool represents a pivotal advancement in leveraging AI to bolster operational consistency and support critical therapy delivery.
According to Todd Mersch from Microsoft, Qai exemplifies a vital application of AI in the life sciences sector, enhancing data analytics and governance to create a significant impact on patient care. By fortifying oversight in manufacturing processes, Qai aligns with Catalent’s mission to provide exceptional service to customers and improve patient outcomes.
