Andhra Pradesh is set to enhance its public healthcare system through the statewide rollout of the Sanjeevani project, integrating AI technologies and doorstep diagnostics starting August 15.

The initiative, announced by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, aims to transition healthcare from a reactive model focused on treating illnesses to a proactive approach centered on wellness. This shift will be facilitated by continuous digital monitoring and predictive treatment capabilities. Initially piloted in Kuppam, the project has expanded its reach to cover approximately 19.75 lakh residents in Chittoor district.

The Sanjeevani project will enable medical teams to perform a variety of diagnostic tests at home, with results stored digitally for easy access by patients. While the current framework supports 42 tests, plans are in place to expand this to 74 different medical tests. The initiative also includes a Sanjeevani card system for managing appointments, virtual consultations, and digital health records.

Looking ahead, Naidu highlighted the introduction of an "AI Doctor" model, which will assist in ongoing patient monitoring and consultations. This comprehensive digital health platform, described as a “Citizen Wellness Mission,” is designed to function as an integrated public health operating system, reinforcing the state's commitment to enhancing healthcare funding, with INR 19,305 Cr allocated for the sector this year.

This initiative reflects a significant move towards leveraging technology in healthcare, potentially setting a precedent for other regions aiming to improve health outcomes through innovative solutions.
