Andhra Pradesh has officially partnered with AstraZeneca India to create an Integrated Genomic Solutions Centre in Amaravati, a significant advancement in precision cancer care. This initiative aims to establish India's first comprehensive research and treatment ecosystem focused on precision oncology, utilizing cutting-edge genomic technologies for personalized cancer diagnosis and treatment.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, with collaboration from Strand Life Sciences and Qure.ai. The centre will specialize in advanced genomic testing and biomarker analysis, particularly for lung and breast cancers, employing next-generation sequencing (NGS) and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance early detection and tailor treatment plans based on individual genetic profiles.
Additionally, AI-enabled X-ray systems will be implemented in government hospitals to improve the early detection of lung cancer, thus facilitating better screening, diagnosis, and timely interventions. This project is part of the Amaravati Quantum Valley programme, which aims to integrate genomic diagnostics, AI-powered imaging, and clinical decision support to elevate cancer care throughout the state.
Chief Minister Naidu emphasized the goal of making world-class healthcare accessible to all citizens and highlighted the importance of advancing quantum research in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. He expressed confidence that the Amaravati Quantum Valley would become a leading hub for medical research, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a pioneer in medical innovation and precision healthcare.
